Believe Usef Ii Group's story

Pictured here are members of the “Believe Usef II” group from the small town of Waterloo, near Freetown, Sierra Leone’s capital city. Members of this group are all local entrepreneurs in Waterloo, where “Shine on Sierra Leone” has partnered with SMT to start a branch. They are seeking a loan of SLL 1,500,000 from Kiva lenders in order to invest in their businesses.

Thirty-eight-year-old Adama K. (pictured in the middle) is the leader of the group. She was born in Waterloo, is married to a soldier, and they have four children – one of her children is in senior secondary school II, one in JSS I, one in class V and the last is in nursery school. Adama has been a businesswoman for more than twenty years now. She sells dried fish. With her share of this loan (SLL 500,000), she will expand her business by buying basketsfull of dried fish to add to her current stock.
