A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Caroline's Group's story

Caroline, pictured above, has been a farmer for 11 years, and is now proud to represent her group of six farmers in Mumias District. She is 40 years old, married and has two children.

Caroline likes to think of herself as a very reliable person. She has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2019 and decided to represent her group because she wanted to help more farmers. She says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that she has learned a lot from farming trainings. Caroline plans to use the profits from this coming season to buy a cow.

In total, Caroline’s Group will receive inputs to cultivate two acres of land. Given that some members of the group will also be purchasing a solar light, with this loan, the group will also receive a total of two solar lights.

In this group: Caroline, Recho, Fransis, Feba, Everline, Sulumena

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
