Bisa Nyame Group's story

Agatha is forty-one years old. She is a married woman and has given birth to six children, some of whom are currently in school while others work. The children are aged between three and twenty-four. Agatha lives with her children and husband, a cocoa farmer, in a rented apartment in their community.

Agatha is a hard-working woman who uses her business proceeds to help her husband financially to cater for the family. She trades in a food item – meat. She supplies meat to food vendors in her community. Agatha has been in business for three years and wants a loan to procure her inventory in bulk. She desires to own a house to accommodate the family.

Agatha is the leader of a trust bank group called ‘Bisa Nyame’, meaning, 'ask God'. It is a four-member group and it is made up of petty traders and palm oil producers. The group leader says the members are all truthful.
