Parissi Group's story

The group Parissi of the association Dori is composed of married women from the city of Tominian, region of Ségou (4th administrative region of the Republic of Mali).  The women live in traditional extended families, average 26 years of age, and have least four children.  The women buy and sell a variety of goods, such as peanuts, condiments, beverages, etc. The group members are on their second solidarity loan after having repaid the first one. 

Sara D., who is the president of the group, works in the area of foodstuff by buying and selling beverages.  She is the sales representative of the Bramali Company (brewery of Mali) in Tominian.  She has been selling all kinds of drinks for about ten years.  She intends to use her loan for buying cases of soft drinks from the Company, which produces beverages.  Generally accepting cash, she resupplies retailers and the villages surrounding Tominian.

Sara envisions making a profit of 21,000 francs CFA per month that will be used to expand her enterprise.
