A loan of $850 helped purchase of damask fabric.

Kadia's story

Mrs. Kadia D. is a divorced lady who is 36 years old and mother to two children. She lives with one of her children at her older brother's house in the Hérémakono Nord district of Bougouni (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali).

Kadia did not have the opportunity to attend modern school and became interested at an early age in revenue-generating activities. Having tried out several activities without success, she ended up opting for the clothing business, buying and selling damask fabric. With four years of experience, she now manages this business well and is in great demand.

As she is concerned about satisfying her ever increasing customer base, she decided to collaborate with the micro-finance institution. She is on her second individual loan having repaid the previous one on time.

She gets her supplies from wholesalers in Bamako (the capital of the Republic of Mali). She sends her articles to the Republic of the Ivory Coast, where they are sold, mainly for cash to a customer base made up of Malian nationals.

With this loan she envisages making a monthly profit of 65,000 FCFA which will be used to expand her business.
