A loan helped to buy supplies for planting.

José Elias's story

José is 69 years old and lives with his wife in the parish of Cahuasqui.

José is a very hardworking man who has labored growing crops and raising animals all of his life.

José needs a loan to invest in planting a crop of peas on the land that he has in the community of Pugara. He works three days a week in the fields in that community, and the rest of the days he works as a day laborer in Cahuasqui so that he can offer his wife the best living conditions possible.

José is very grateful to Kiva lenders because they have helped him with a loan previously, and today he is requesting another to be able to generate more income for his home.

Translated from Spanish by Kiva volunteer Sherry Kruch.

This loan is special because:

It finances farmers' secondary income generating business.
