Jared is 33 years old and married with two children who are in school. He runs a retail shop where he sells household goods, cereals and plastics. He has been in this business for five years and has two employees. He also runs a taxi business to earn extra income. He was previously employed as a security guard in a mercury trading company before he started this business. He saves part of his profit with his savings group called Mapema.
He has requested a loan of kes 40,000 from Faulu Kenya to buy rice, sugar and cooking fat for his inventory. He hopes to buy a plot and build his family a house in the future.
