Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $3,000 helped to purchase a wood-cutting band saw.

Wisam's story

Wisam is a 20-year-old young woman from Ramallah. Her family runs a carpentry workshop where they produce furniture, wooden structures, cupboards, tables, chairs, etc. Since the workshop is the only source of income for the family, Wisam took the second loan from FATEN to purchase a wood-cutting band saw to replace the old one.

Wisam tells us that her father started the project 12 years ago, and he established an excellent reputation for his great work quality and ability to meet deadlines, which is reflected in the workshop's number of customers. She hopes that by purchasing the band saw, she will help her father do his work faster and more efficiently, and improve the family's financial situation.

Wisam's father appears in the picture above in his workshop.
