A loan helped to purchase more charcoal to sell.

Hawa's story

Hawa is 38 years old and is living together with her partner along with 6 children. All of her children are currently attending school while living at home. She runs a business where she sells charcoal. She has been in this business for the past 17 years now and works 15 hours per day, 6 days a week. She has had no problem with her business. She started selling with some financial help from her partner and learned the trade from her mother. Hawa requested this loan from Brac to purchase more charcoal to sell. She says that the extra income from this loan will help improve their standard of living. In the future she wants to extend her business. She says thanks and gives appreciation to Brac and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
