A loan of $500 helps a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer, to improve harvests of maize.

Moses' Group's story

Pictured above is Moses, often described as an extremely experienced farmer. He is 62 years old and has nine children. As a group leader, he is representing his group of nine farmers in Lugari District, Kenya.

Moses is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund again, as this means that he is able to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds, which is why he decided to join in the first place. Moses says that he is happy to have made that decision because, since he first joined in 2015, he has been able to consistently feed his family, which has improved his day-to-day life significantly. Moses will use the profits from this season to send his children to school.

The group will use this loan to purchase seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 4.25 acres. Given that some members of the group will also be purchasing a solar light, with this loan, the group will also receive a total of four solar lights.

In this group: Moses, Nancy, Salom, Thomas, Sikuku, Mary, Jacob, Joyce, Catherine

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
