A loan of $1,050 helped to buy fertilizer and insecticides.

Elena's story

Elena, 30, is a loving and responsible mother; she lives in a leased house with her husband, Nilton, 30, and their two beloved children for whom she wants to provide a good education.

Elena is a potato and pea farmer. She and her husband tend to their farmlands every day in the morning. They know that the more they care for their crops the better the sale price will be when they take their harvest to market.

What she most enjoys about her work is planting, which she does very patiently; she’s been in this line of work for 14 years. She considers the most difficult part of it transporting the products to the city’s wholesale markets.

In time, she hopes to buy more land in order to expand her crops and increase production.

This is her 3rd loan with MFP; she knows she must be punctual with repayments if she wants to have access to future loans. Her fellow group members respect greatly because she’s a very responsible member.

She will use the requested 3000 soles to buy more manure and fertilizers for her crops as well as to buy insecticides.
