A loan of $725 helped inventory.

Elvira's story

Elvira is a long time client of the institution and has been working with us since 2003 and is a hard working woman with a good attitude. She sells “polleras” (a pollera is a big Spanish skirt) and shawls. (Wearing shawls is very common in La Paz.) She sells her wares in all of the fairs around the city of El Alto. Her work requires much sacrifice, because she needs to walk every day to deliver her merchandise around the city. She has a son and her husband is a driver for the Pedro Domingo Murillo Company, a bus company. He rises very early and works very late in order to earn enough to support his family. Elvira is very grateful to Emprender and Kiva for the trust they have placed in her by granting this loan.
