A loan of $1,050 helped to buy seed peas, fertilizer, and insecticide.

Joel's story

Joel is 30 years old, and a persevering man who is not afraid of adversity - he only looks forward. He is married to 28 year old Elizabeth, and they have 3 children. They all live together in their own house. The need to offer their family good living conditions motivates Joel and his wife to work hard at growing potatoes, peas, and gladioli on their own land. Joel also has a stall in the major city market where he has been selling his products for 7 years, which earns him additional income. He also takes milk from his parents cows in order to help them with selling cheese. These trades allow him to provide all the basics that his loved ones need, and even to recently purchase two hectares of land where he is thinking of growing gladioli. He hopes that the income from his harvest will enable him to buy a house in the city and set-up a store, as well as having his vegetables at his current market stall. This is his fifth loan with MFP, and he states that he will continue to work with this community group with the same commitment as he had when he began. With the loan that he is requesting, he will buy 8 sacks of fertilizer, two bags of peas, and 5 bottles of insecticide.
