A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Gladys' Group's story

Gladys, pictured above, has been a farmer for more than 20 years, and is now proud to represent her group of 17 farmers in Lugari District. She is 50 years old, married and has 3 children.

Gladys likes to think of herself as a very friendly person. She has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2015 and decided to represent her group because she wanted to help more farmers. She says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that she has been able to consistently feed her family. Gladys plans to use the profits from this coming season to repair her home.

In total, Gladys’ group will receive inputs to cultivate 9.75 acres of land. Given that a member of the group will also be purchasing a solar light, with this loan, the group will also receive 1 solar light.

In this group: Gladys, Caroline, Beatice, Eunice, Everlyne, Josphat, Julius, Judith, Robert, Teresa, Mary, Rodah, Wilson, Pamela, Rose, Stephen, Josphat

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
