A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Asha's Group's story

Asha, pictured above, has been a farmer for more than 20 years, and is now proud to represent her group of 5 farmers in Mumias District. She is 41 years old and married, and she has 4 children.

Asha likes to think of herself as a very experienced farmer. She has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2015, and she decided to represent her group because she wanted to be more active in her community. She says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that she has been able to consistently feed her family. Asha plans to use the profits from this coming season to send her children to school.

In total, Asha’s Group will receive inputs to cultivate 2.25 acres of land. Given that some members of the group will also be purchasing a solar light, with this loan the group will also receive a total of 2 solar lights.

In this group: Asha, Esther, Peter, Alexander, Manuel

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
