Sion Plus Group's story

Sion Plus is a community bank made up of twenty-eight members whose chairwoman is Dordine M.. These members are united for the same goal: to grow their businesses by loans received from Kiva through micro-finance institute HOPE DRC.

Dordine sells palm oil and purified water in a market located to the west of Kinshasa and has been in business since 1995. Her beginning business capital was $25. With hard work and good management, Dordine’s business has prospered and now generates a profit of $20 per day.

Dordine intends, with this next loan, to purchase forty-five liters of palm oil for resale in order to meet her clients’ needs and to generate additional profits. Her dream is someday to become the company’s palm oil provider.

Dordine is married and has seven children, who are between 4 and 21 years old. Four of them attend school.
