Génèse Plus Group's story

Didier K. is the president of the Community Bank called “Génèse Plus”. The group is composed of twenty-six members who are united in solidarity to receive loans from Kiva through micro-finance institute HOPE DRC with the goal of developing their businesses.

Didier runs a telephone booth to the west of Kinshasa. He began his business in 2000 with beginning capital of $50. With hard work and determination, his business has prospered. Didier is now well-known and liked in this new area.

Didier is a trustworthy client who has received loans five times from HOPE DRC and has fully repaid them. Since that time his business has prospered and the loans he has received have helped him rent a well-located business place. He makes $90 profit each week.

Didier intends, with this next loan, to purchase more prepaid cards to meet his customers’ demands and to generate additional profits.

Didier is 50 years old, married, and the father of six children aged between 4 and 19 of whom six go to school. His ambition is to open a pharmacy in his area.
