Chelsea Group's story

This is a group of small-scale businesspeople in Makeni, a city in northern Sierra Leone. They named their group 'Chelsea' (named after their favorite English football team). They have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva in Sierra Leone, to seek a loan of SLL 800,000 in order to expand their businesses.

The leader of the group is Gibo Akim K.. Gibo who was born in Makeni is a 33-year-old. He is married and has two children – one in secondary school and the other is not of school-going age. Gibo has been selling soft drinks for countless years now. With the help of this loan, he will buy more crates of soft drinks to sell.
