A loan helped a member to buy cost efficient maize seeds and fertilizer for the coming harvesting season.

Christine's Group's story

Pictured above is Christine, who, as a group leader, is representing her group formed by 11 farmers in Teso District, Kenya. She is a mother to 7 children and is known by her community as a very reliable person.

Initially, Christine joined One Acre Fund in 2012 because she wanted to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds. Since she joined the program she says that her life has improved, especially because she has been able to consistently feed her family. With the profits from the coming harvesting season, Christine plans to send her children to school.

Between the 11 farmers in Christine's Group, a total of 5 acres of land will be planted using the maize seeds and fertilizer received with the loan.

In this group: Christine, Manyasi, Christine, Machuma, Okumu, Janetricks, Jentrix, Jackyline, Sabina, Laketina, Leonard
