A loan of $2,900 helped a member buying merchandise.

Nueva Imagen Group's story

The NUEVA IMAGEN ("New Image") communal bank, currently in its fifth loan cycle, has 8 members, all of them women. Most of the members are located in the Villa Copacabana zone, along the main avenue, while other members live in the Valle Hermoso area. The members work selling diverse products, such as underwear, cosmetics, or groceries. In the previous loan cycle, all of the members made their payments except for two, who had problems and paid with their savings; they were removed from the communal bank.

Maria is the group representative. She currently holds the position of president of the bank. Her work is selling cosmetics and clothing. She has pursued this activity for 6 years. The loan will be used to buy wholesale merchandise. She is married, and her husband Juan works as an accountant in a construction company. She has 2 children who are dependent on her, and she lives in her parents' home.

Within her communal bank, Maria has distinguished herself as a responsable person who is punctual in her payments. Thanks to her hard work, she was named leader of the bank.

Alejandra is a member who carries out the function of treasurer for the bank. Her work is selling undergarments (fine lingerie) in various places, including institutions, and at special events. She has worked in this field for 1 year. She will use the loan for capital investment. Alejandra is single with no children. She has taken on the position [of treasurer] thanks to the responsibility she has demonstrated within the bank as a guarantor and fellow group member.

Cecilia, an active and dynamic person and a good writer, was chosen as secretary. Her work is selling cosmetics. She will use the loan to buy cosmetics which are currently on sale, in order to sell them later at their original price. She is separated and lives with family members in the Villa Copacabana zone.

She is very grateful to Emprender and Kiva for their confidence in granting the loan.
