A loan helped to pay for a weaving machine, thread, and dyes and to save money for her children's schooling.

Rasmata's story

Rasmata, aged 46, is the mother of six children of whom five are attending school. A shopkeeper and a weaver, she sells grocery items along with woven traditional 'pagnes' [the colorful cloth of western Africa]. For nine years, she has been weaving quality ‘pagne’ cloth in her neighborhood on the edge of town.

Now on her 5th loan cycle at YIKRI, she is requesting a loan to pay for a weaving machine, 3 bales of thread, and some dyes for weaving many lengths of traditional ‘pagne’ to satisfy customer demands. She plans to use the earnings to reinvest in her business and to save money for covering her children’s school fees.
