A loan helped to increase her income by buying quality seeds and other farm inputs to improve her crop farm.

Janet's story

Janet is 45 years old and a mother of two children. She is a smallholder farmer and is in the business for the past few years. Overtime Janet has gathered experience and is considered among the best farmers in her village.

Her primary sources of income have been selling milk and raising crops. Janet is very passionate about farming and loves cultivating her farm. She is an honest, hardworking, and loyal worker who is dedicated to her farm because it allows her to support her family's needs.

Although she makes a profit from farming, Janet's standard of living is not comfortable. She has always wanted to increase her income by buying quality seeds and other farm inputs. She has requested for a loan in order to make these investments and improve her crop farming.

Kenya's Kerugoya area, one of the country's most populated regions, has a high demand for food. This means that Janet could increase her profit and satisfy the existing demand for agricultural produce. She is grateful that Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, helps hardworking and honest women farmers like her to turn their farming dreams into reality through training and loan financing.

Janet is confident that the loan will help her improve her standard of living. She is grateful for the help and support of Kiva lenders.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
