A loan helped to buy more palm oil, bread, and fish to sell.

Yassah's story

Yassah is 34 years old. She is a single mother with one child aged 17 years. Yassah's child lives at home while schooling.

Yassah mainly sells palm oil, bread, and fish. She learned this trade from her mother and started the business with her own earnings. She has no problem with her business.

Yassah has been in this business for five years now. She transports supplies to her business site by using vehicles. Yassah sells six days per week.

Yassah says she enjoys her business because sales are profitable. She is proud of her business because it helps to sustain her family.

To continue selling, Yassah applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva Field Partner. With the anticipated profits, she will buy more palm oil, bread, and fish to sell.

In the future, Yassah wants to build a house. She wishes to say thanks.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
