A loan of $275 helped to invest in expanding her fishing business.


Jenelyn's story

Jenelyn M. is from the village of Danao. She is 29 years old, married and has 3 school-aged children. To make a living, Jenelyn owns & operates a fishing business. She harvests and sells ocean-caught fish to the local community. Jenelyn has been engaged in her business for over 15 years and earns approximately 2,500 PHP a month for these activities.

In 2005, Jenelyn joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation, and her ability to engage in business activities. Jenelyn has successfully repaid a previous loan of 5,000 PHP from PMPC. That loan was used to purchase fishing equipment including hooks & nets. Jenelyn is requesting a new loan of 12,000 PHP which will be used to invest in expanding the business. For Jenelyn, this will be the 4th loan from PMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the living condition of her family.
