A loan of $700 helped to buy pea seeds.

Maria's story

Maria, 51, is a hardworking and unassuming woman. She lives in her own home with her 2 youngest daughters, for whom she wants to provide a better life.

The beautiful countryside of the Villa Visca village has been, for Maria, a good place to start a family and see it grow. From the time she was very small her parents taught her to work on the farm, and now she has her own lands on which she works with a lot of care and sacrifice.

What she likes most about her work is to cultivate peas, potatoes and corn. She has been doing this for 26 years, and what she considers most difficult is to transport her products to the place where they are sold in the market in the city. With time, she hopes to have a small stall in the market, since she feels that she loses out a lot by selling her products at wholesale.

This is the 5th loan that Maria has taken from MFP. She knows that she has the responsibility to make all of her payments on time, and she is ready to do this. Within her communal bank she is always aware of all of the agreements that they have reached as a group. With the 2,000 Peruvian soles requested she will buy pea seeds, since this product is selling very well in the market.
