A loan of $1,050 helped to purchase insecticides.

Lucia's story

Lucia is 58 years old and is a very happy and hardworking woman. She lives in her own house together with her two younger daughters and what she wants most is to improve their quality of life.

Her business is cultivating potatoes, corn, and peas. Every day early in the morning, she works on her farms, since she knows that the money that she earns from her crop sales will depend greatly on the quality of her products. She sells her crops in the city market, where they pay her the best. What she likes most about her work is harvesting her lands, as she feels that then her months of work pay off. She has been in this business for 28 years and considers the most difficult part to be spraying her lands, as there is always the danger that the chemicals can make her sick. In the future, she will plant more on her lands to increase her production.

This is Lucia’s ninth loan with MFP and the loan money will help her greatly to progress in her work. She is very well-liked by her fellow communal members, as she is very supportive with them. With the 3,000 PEN requested, she will purchase more insecticides, as she wants her lands to be pest-free.
