A loan of $250 helped fertilizer.

Gerardo Porfirio's story

Mr. Gerardo Porfirio C. C. has done farm work for more than 35 years. His greatest difficulty is the lack of water in the summer and the occasional bad winter. He started wiht the support of other agricultural workers. His future plan for his crop is to be able to do soil conservation work to improve production and be able to sell at a better price. He lives in the town of Nindiri with his wife who helps with the expenses of the home. They have three children who are 25, 18, and 15 years old, all are male, and the older two live on their own and the youngest studies in high school. His plans for his family are to provide them with a better quality of life. He is thankful for the Kiva loans, as Afodenic has provided the loan money to buy fertilizers for his current crop.
