Tederlita's story

Tederlita T. is from the village of Barina-ut, Iligan City. She is 56 years old. Tederlita is widowed and has three adult children. To make a living, Tederlita runs a sari-sari (variety) retail shop. The main source of income for the business comes from selling both food and daily-use products in the local community. Tederlita has been engaged in her business for over 15 years and earns approximately 4,500 Philippine pesos a month for these activities.

In 2009, Tederlita joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Tederlita has successfully repaid a previous loan of 5,000 PHP from HSPFI, a Kiva partner.

Tederlita is requesting a new loan of 7,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase additional products to sell. This will be the second loan taken out by Tederlita from HSPFI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to supplement the income of her family.
