Mele Koleti's story

This is Mele. She is 68 years old, a widow and has six grown up children. She lives together with her eldest daughter in her daughter's house. Mele currently runs a business of tapa making. Her daughter, daughter-in-law and with ten more women in their village help her and together, they conduct the tapa making on Friday of every week.

They make different types and size of tapas, then Mele with the help of her daughter and daughter-in-law, decorate her tapas, and send it overseas for marketing. She also sell out some of the tapas, at the local market and to random people who visit her home.

Mele is a hard working mother and a good role model for her children. She showed them that not only good education can provide a better future, but also a very talented and hard working person can achieve the same. She is very committed to her business, and it shows in the improvement in her business.
