A loan helped a member to pay for bags of corn, beans, cassava flour, and maintenance for her vehicle.

Utukufu Group's story

Madame Jeanine is a client of IMF Hekima and supervises the "Utukufu" banque villageoise. She is 37 years old, married, and has six children who all go to school. Her partner is a driver.

For the past 20 years, she has been working in transportation and also selling corn and beans. She started her business with start-up funding from her husband. Later on, she started working with Hekima to sustain her activities. This has helped her business grow gradually.

With this new loan, she will pay for bags of corn, beans, cassava flour, and maintenance for her vehicle in order to bolster her initial capital. The main challenge she faces is poor road conditions.

She would like her children to go to school. She thanks Hekima and their partners for their support of small business owners. One client prefers to be pictured with her baby.
