A loan helped to buy an additional dairy cow to improve her milk vending business and make more profit to support her five children.

Viola's story

Meet Viola, a mother of five. Taking a closer look at her, one would never know the hardships she has been through, because she has always emerged victorious through all those adversities. Viola lives in Eldoret, a town that hosts a number of elite athletes in Kenya. She is a mother who is blessed with lovely children who are her greatest motivation. She perseveres, because she wants to provide a better future for them.

From Kiva lenders she is borrowing 100,000 KES to purchase a high-yield dairy cow and milk cans to expand her milk vending business. This cow will boost milk production on the farm. As a result, she will have a greater quantity of milk for both consumption and sales. With the money from the additional sales, she will be able to service her loan on time.
With the increased income from the loan, Viola plans to spend money to settle the high farming cost of production. In the long run, her family will reach an improved standard of living.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
