Deepani is a 46-year-old married woman living with her husband and three children who are still studying. She and her husband process the business together, which is a tailoring shop.
Deepani started her business seven years ago. She first started with a Singer sewing machine but upgraded to a Juckey machine with her first loan from BRAC. With this loan, she plans to purchase a new overlock machine, which will increase the quality of her tailoring services.
Deepani is seeking a 30,000 LKR loan from BRAC to purchase cloth for her business and help pay for her new overlock machine.
In her business, Deepani and her husband work together cooperatively and she is hardworking. She has seen success because, with the help of her Juckey machine, her services have been of very high quality.

Bank regulations in Sri Lanka stipulate that US Dollars cannot leave the country for 12 months. However, Kiva’s net billing system, under normal circumstances will allow for more timely repayment.
