A loan of $1,050 helped purchase school supplies to stock her new bookstore.

Martha's story

Martha is 45 years old and lives with her husband and two daughters at home, which is located at the foot of a hill in the southern part of the city. She is a hardworking woman who teaches different forms of dance to the children in her neighborhood. In her free time, she sells a well-known brand of beauty products. This work requires that she walk through the hills where she lives in order to find new customers. During the summer the work can be very tedious and the heat is suffocating. Nonetheless, she is successful with her sales. Since she offers products on credit, her customers often do not pay on time so every day is a struggle for her to get ahead. In the future, she plans to open a bookstore in her home and will enlist the help of her husband, who works as a mason. Martha wants to start this business immediately and is very confident about pursuing it without having to abandon her cosmetics sales. She is sure that it will go well because she is very knowledgeable about the area where she lives.

This is the sixth loan Martha has received and she is very grateful to everyone who made this loan possible so that she can continue to work. She also promises to continue leading the other members of her Communal Bank and motivating them not to fall behind in their payments. Martha plans to invest the money she requested in the purchase of school supplies so that she can move forward with her bookstore project.
