A loan helped to buy more phone accessories and purchase mobile phones to sell.

Lukia's story

Lukia is a 21-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her parents in Chikwawa in Malawi. Her parents are peasant farmers who depend on her for their day to day living.

Lukia sells phone accessories. She is requesting a Kiva loan to boost her business where among other items will be the actual phones plus accessories. She plans to use the profit she earns to pay for her tertiary education and support her family.

Lukia will repay the ‘social interest’ on her loan by volunteering 2.5 hours per week as a Camfed Learner Guide, following up on students who are at risk of dropping out of school, to find out why they are missing school and to link them with the help they need to stay in school.

This loan is special because:

It is a 0% interest loan for young women with new businesses.
