A loan helped to buy a biodigester to save money and pay for her kids' education.

Eunice's story

Eunice is an ambitious farmer, and she is also a businesswoman. She lives in Kiambu with her family and wants to buy a Sistema Biobolsa in order to save time and money to invest in her business and to pay for her five kids' education.

Eunice spends too much time chopping wood and then starting the fire to prepare breakfast. With her Sistema Biobolsa biodigester, she will transform her cows' manure into renewable energy (biogas).

Eunice will be able to cook breakfast in her biogas stove every morning for her kids and get them ready for school on time so she can work to expand her local business.

As she starts putting the animal waste into the biodigester, bacteria will convert it into both biogas for cooking and nutrient-rich fertilizer that Eunice will apply to her vegetable field.

This loan represents 58% of the full price of the biodigester; the remaining part was covered by a cash down payment and a government subsidy.

This loan is special because:

It saves farmers money by transforming waste into biogas and organic fertilizer.
