A loan helped to purchase more lappa, chains, dresses, and earrings to sell.

Esther's story

This is 55-year-old Esther, a widow with 6 children. All of her children are schooling and live at home.

Esther has a business selling lappa, chain, dresses, and earrings. She learned how to sell from her late mother and started these businesses with her son’s earnings. For the past 11 years, she has been managing her business. She transports supplies to her business site by using a taxi and she has had no problems with her sales. She sells Monday through Saturday.

To continue her sales, Esther applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva Field Partner.

The loan will be used to purchase more lappa, chains, dresses and earrings to sell to her good clients. She likes her business because sales are profitable and she is proud of her business because it helps to sustain her family.

In the future, she wants to build houses.

She wishes to say thanks.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
