Antonieta, 60, has a hard and rigid appearance. Her story, however, is touching and the harshness of her expression only masks her great heart. She tells us that she didn’t used to work because her husband wouldn’t permit her to. She has two adult children, a 35- and a 25-year-old. Unfortunately, one of them left the country to look for work and this saddened her very much to the point of becoming ill and depressed. A friend of hers motivated her to sell beauty products and this is how she started her business. At the beginning, it was just to have something to do that would keep her mind occupied. However, two years ago she started to really become dedicated to it when she saw how profitable it could be but, above all, being busy helped her to partly overcome her son’s absence.

A neighbor in town told her about EDAPROSPO and motivated her to join the “UNIDAS TRIUNFAREMOS” (Together We Will Succeed) group. All the members are from the neighborhood and Antonieta is the group president. Her strong character makes it possible for her to lead the group. On the other hand, she does well with her business and she has many customers.

Despite her husband’s lack of enthusiasm for her work, she continues ahead and doesn’t become discouraged; she has projects to meet, like having her own store in which to display her beauty products.

With the funds from this loan she will buy beauty products merchandise because she has several pending orders to fill.

Antonieta still has dreams to fulfill and knows that she must keep busy, not only to overcome her son’s absence, but to earn a livelihood and show that age need not be a barrier to continue working.
