A loan of $1,050 helped purchase organic fertilizers & farming supplies.

Leonarda's story

Leonarda is 45 years old and lives with her partner, who is the father of her four children. She lives in a rented house in a town located in the Ayacuchan jungle called Palmapampa.

Leonarda never forgot those afternoons in her youth when she watched her grandparents clear the land and plant cacao seeds. This is the reason why she chose to pursue farming, specifically growing cacao, in order to honor her grandparents’ legacy. She now develops new farming techniques with the occasional help of her relatives, but she also hires workers for the harvest season. Cacao has high demand on a national and international level. Leonarda feels satisfied with the revenue she generates from selling her product to the collection centers in her area. Later on she wants to buy more land so that she can complete on the same level as her neighbors.

This is her thirteenth loan with MFP. Leonarda commits to making her payments and conforming to the work methodology of her Communal Bank. The money she requested will be invested in supplies and organic fertilizers for her fields so that she can improve the quality of her product for the next harvest and sell it at a better price.
