A loan helped a member to buy cattle for retail in order to support his family.

Gneta Group's story

Siaka Sidy is a 43 year old Malian. He is married and the father of 5 children, 2 of whom go to school. His children range in age from 2 to 15. Siaka Sidy is literate, and he has raised cattle for the past 8 years. He wants to develop and expand this business in order to make it his main source of income.

He is the one holding the ox by the rope in the picture. He has used the loan from the RMCR to buy cattle. He stocks up in the surrounding villages and sells the cattle at the local market. The profit from his sales can be up to 50,000 francs CFA for each cycle. The profit from the sale of the cattle enables him to assume the health, education and food costs of his children. He says that he has had no problem reimbursing the RMCR loan.

In the future, Siaka Sidy hopes to have more funding to expand his cattle raising business in order to meet his own needs and those of his family even better.
