Dicia Amelieta's story

Dicia Amelieta was born in the city of Matola, in the Maputo Province, South of Mozambique. She is 33 years old, single and the mother of two children who are 11 and 8 years old. They are both in school. She only went to school until the 8th grade due to a teen pregnancy. She lives in her own house with her children and doesn't support anyone else.

She has never left Matola. She has had her own business for more than 10 years. She sells mostly cooking oil, eggs, rice and others. She does not have any employees and earns around 3.500.00mt per week, which is applied towards household expenses and a savings account. This is her first loan, in the amount of 15.000.00mt, aimed at purchasing products (rice, cooking oil, eggs, pasta and others) to increase the quantity of and diversify her inventory.

She commits to pay this loan on time to be able to request others. In the future, she would like to request more loans to finish her house and offer better living conditions for her children, and to also pay for college.
