Ruthe Francisco's story

Ruthe Francisco N. was born in the city of Maputo, in southern Mozambique. She is 37 years old, and a single mother of two children 13 and 10 years old. Both attend school. She only completed fifth grade due to lack of funds. She lives with her children in her own house, and has no other dependents.

She never left Maputo, and has run her business in the the city for over 10 years. She sells clothes as a street vendor, and has no employees. She uses her monthly income of around 10,000 MZN for household expenses and manages to same some in a Xitique (a traditional revolving savings sistem).

She has never taken out loans from other banks, and learned about Hluvuku through her friend Ana who is also a client of the organization. This is her fourth loan, for 20,000 MZN, which she intends to use to buy products (clothing and others) to increase the quantity of her stock. The earlier loans were for 10,000, 12,000 and 15,000 MZN for improvements to her home and place of business. In the future she would like to apply for additional loans to complete her house and improve her living conditions.
