A loan helped to buy raw materials for her handicrafts business.

Uinise's story

Uinise is 22 years old. She is a separated mother of three. Currently, she lives with her children under the roof of her parents.

She is running a business of handicraft, and her mother is helping her out. She makes kiekie from raw materials of nature such as coconut husk, coconut shells, seashells and hibiscus.

Alone, she can only make up to three kiekie in a week. But with her mother's help Uinise is able to make up to five kiekie in a week.

She sells her kiekie at the local market and sometimes sends it overseas for relatives to buy. This has been the main source of income for her family for the past four years.

Uinise is hoping to use her loan money to buy raw materials for her business. Her vision is for her children to receive a better education.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
