A loan helped to buy bags of betel-nuts, leaves, lime powder, and cigarette sleeves for her business.

Melisa's story

Melisa is a 33-year-old woman who is married with one child, and they live in a community in Honiara, the capital of Solomon Islands.

She runs a small retail business selling barbecued sausages, betel-nuts, leaves, and cigarettes in her community and at the market to earn a living. She has been doing this for two years.

Melisa has requested a loan to buy additional bags of betel-nuts, leaves, lime powder, and cigarette sleeves to increase her supplies and assist her in running her business.

She plans to use her profits to meet her family's weekly expenses and to improve her business.

She joined SPBD in 2019 to gain access to financial services.
