Ma. Cristina's Group's story

Ma. Cristina S. is from the village of Salay, Angadanan, Isabela Province. She is 45 years old. Ma. Cristina is the group leader for a 13-member group loan offered by ASKI. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are all collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.

Ma. Cristina is married and has four school-aged children. To make a living, she owns and operates a business venture in the agriculture sector raising livestock. While not the only means for generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes from raising and fattening pigs for sale. Ma. Cristina has been engaged in her business for over two years and earns approximately 25,000 PHP every four months for this kind of activity.

In 2008, Ma. Cristina joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Ma. Cristina is requesting a new loan of 15,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase livestock feed and other supplies. This loan will be her fourth loan from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue to improve and expand her business.
