Las Mariposas Group's story

The “Mariposas” (Butterflies) group is represented by Flora and is maD. up of 10 members, 2 men and 8 women. All are residents of an area that is almost completely dedicated to dairy farming and cattle raising. Flora raises dairy cows. She milks them very early in the morning in order to sell the milk to the PIL Dairies truck. She uses the remaining milk to make quesillo (similar to cottage-cheese) and yoghurt to sell in the local markets. She is married and has 4 children, two of whom are in school and two who are not school-age yet. She needs funding for home construction and enlargement and to buy ingredients for her various products.

The rest of the group sells milk and the two male members are construction workers. Competition is high but the women have regular customers that buy the milk; some sell the milk to milk processing plants.

The current financing will be used to by soy, which is the main feed for the cows and the men will buy work tools to make their work easier.

The bank is starting its second loan cycle, having demonstrated responsibility and honesty; they expect to continue working to grow and proviD. their families with improved quality of life.
