A loan of $600 helped to buy corn and propane gas.

Rosa Elvia's story

Rosa Elvia M. M. is 51 years old, and lives in Puerto el Triunfo, located in the Department of Usulután. She is single, and lives with her two daughters who help with her business. Rosa works selling tortillas, which she makes and then sells throughout the neighborhood. She counts on a good customer base, as she has been in this type of business for many years. Her tortilla business is located in her home where, midday, she dedicates herself to washing the corn, then milling and making the tortillas. These are in great demand in this country, as they are an integral part of the Salvadoran diet. For this reason, the business is profitable, and she lives off of the income it generates.

She is requesting a loan to buy corn at lower wholesale prices. She would also like to buy some tanks of propane gas in order to have an extra supply of these. Despite being a single mother, she has known how to face her difficult situation by working hard to help her daughters get ahead and to provide for them.
