A loan of $2,000 helped a member purchase ceramics to sell.

La Union De Joachin Group's story

This group is called “La Union de Joachin” because the members are very united and live in the same area. The five members of the group are Karina B. H., Fiel C. M., Marcela B. P., Arturo F. H., and Bernardo Arturo F. A.. They all live in the State of Veracruz. Marcela sells clothing and perfume, Karina sells ceramics, Fidel sells aged iron, Arturo sells drinking water, and Bernardo Arturo manages a funeral parlor with his father.

Karina is the representative for the group. She is married and has a two year old daughter. Karina sells ceramics and food among other things. She says that her business generates sufficient earnings because there are are not many businesses like hers where she lives.

With this loan, Karina wants to buy more merchandise to restock her business. Her goal for the future is to provide a better quality of life for her daughter. With her earnings, she hopes to one day send her daughter to university and have her business become one of the best in Joachin.

Karina says she feels very comfortable with the group “La Union de Joachin” because she knows she can trust the other members since she knows them well and are good friends. Karina believes the Kiva lenders have been a great help to their activities because the members need to invest in their businesses.
