Ngoyila Group's story

Here are members of the ‘Ngoyila’ group from Makeni, a city in northern Sierra Leone. The have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva, to borrow the sum of SLL 2,300,000 in order to expand their businesses. In this way, they can make more profit and consequently improve their living conditions.

Sento S. is the leader of this group. The 40-year-old was born in Makeni. She is married to a businessman and they have four children – one is attending primary school and three are attending secondary school. Sento sells groundnuts (peanuts). She has been in this business for many years now. With her share of this loan, she will buy bags of groundnuts to add to her current stock.
