A loan of $375 helped hire workers to help with harvesting coffee.

Antonia's story

Antonia is 38 years old and a hardworking mother. She is married to Rómulo (age 29) and has five children, but only three live with them. She lives in her own house, which was built after much effort and sacrifice.

Her youngest daughter was born three years ago with a disease in which her body cannot fend for itself. Antonia began to see the world from a different perspective. She was overcome with desires to provide her daughter with an adequate quality of life, so she managed to work with greater devotion without having to neglect her for one second.

Antonia and her husband have been growing coffee for 22 years and enjoy all aspects of farming, especially selecting the quality of their harvest so that they can generate the best earnings to help cover the education of their children, their food, and some savings so that later they can buy a house in the city. There they can open a grocery store in addition to harvesting coffee beans. Leaving their home during the harvest season would not be easy, but it would be worth it so that their young daughter could receive the proper treatment.

This is her first loan with MFP. Antonia says she is grateful for this opportunity given to her by the Institution and the members of her Communal Bank. With the loan of 1000 PEN that she requested, she will hire workers to help with harvesting her coffee.
