Oretha's story

This is 45-year-old Oretha, a married mother with three children between the ages of 17 and 19 years. They are schooling and live at home. Oretha's husband works as a security guard to earn extra income.

Oretha's main source of income is selling dried fish. She learned this trade from her mother. She has been in this business for 25 years now and describes herself as a hardworking business woman. She has no problems with her business.

Oretha requires a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva Field Partner, in order to purchase more dried fish to sell to her good clients. With her profits, she is able to help her husband at home. She likes her business because it gives her more profits. She is proud of her business because it helps to support her family.

In the future, Oretha wants to improve her business and give her children better living conditions. She says thanks to BRAC and all Kiva lenders.

This loan is special because:
